Terms of Service
These terms apply when you play This Is Locked, on the website at thisislocked.com or in the app for iPhone, iPad and Android (together, "the game"). The game is made by Define Reality Studios ("we", "us"). By playing, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't play.
Playing the game
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to play the game for your own non-commercial enjoyment. You don't need an account. The game, its levels, art, code, music and name belong to us or our licensors, and these terms don't give you any ownership of them.
Please don't copy, resell, or redistribute the game, try to get around the Supporter Pack or the ads, or interfere with the game's servers. You're welcome to share screenshots and videos of yourself playing.
It's a game about locks
Some levels parody things you'll recognise from the internet, such as checkouts, pop-ups, adverts and cancellation screens. They're jokes. No puzzle ever takes a real payment, and nothing you type into a puzzle is sent anywhere. The only real purchase is the Supporter Pack, and it always goes through the App Store or Google Play's own payment screen.
The Supporter Pack (app only)
- The Supporter Pack is a one-time, non-consumable in-app purchase. It removes the ads and unlocks the Garden chapter and Puzzle Rush.
- It's sold and processed by Apple or Google, under their terms. The price is the one shown by the store at the time you buy.
- It's tied to your App Store or Google Play account, and you can restore it on another device using Settings → Restore.
- Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their refund policies. If a purchase is refunded, the pack is removed.
- Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.
Ads (app only)
The free version of the app shows occasional ads provided by Google AdMob. We don't control the content of individual ads, and any dealings you have with an advertiser are between you and them. Our Privacy Policy explains how ads use data and how to control it.
Updates and changes
We may update the game, including through updates the app downloads automatically, to fix problems or change and add content. We may also stop offering the game or parts of it. If we ever remove the Supporter Pack's content in a way that significantly affects what you paid for, we'll try to give reasonable notice.
Your progress
Your progress is saved on your device, not with us. Deleting the app, clearing your browser data or using Start over will erase it, and we can't recover it.
Links to other sites
The game links to other websites and apps, including our other games. We're not responsible for their content or practices.
No warranty
The game is provided "as is". We work to make it enjoyable and reliable, but we can't promise that it will always be available, work on every device, or be free of bugs. Some levels use your device's camera, microphone or motion sensors and may not work on every device.
Our liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited or excluded by law, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer. Otherwise, we aren't liable for losses that weren't reasonably foreseeable, or for business losses, and our total liability to you in connection with the game is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim, if anything.
Please play sensibly: some levels ask you to tilt, shake or move your phone. Keep a good grip and stay aware of your surroundings.
App store terms
If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store, you use it under Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement as well as these terms. Apple has no obligation to provide support for the app. If you downloaded it from Google Play, Google Play's terms of service also apply.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The latest version will always be here, with the date at the top. If you keep playing after a change, the updated terms apply.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK or in the EU, you keep the protection of your local consumer law and may bring proceedings in your local courts.
